“Healing Rhythms" is a four-part series marking Black History Month and the rich cultural diversity of Toronto. Across the series, you will be introduced to several teachers and musicians — including the Moneka family — who share their rhythms and songs that celebrate family and community.
In the second episode of the series, the Moneka family introduces viewers to the second mood, titled Muzoka, through a series of ancestral songs that have been passed on through generations of the Moneka family. Learn about why these traditions are so important to preserve through song, and how they have evolved and grown with the Moneka family throughout their rich family history.
